Vin Scully is a legend. The 83-year-old called the entire game.
The umpires postponed the start of the Dodgers/Padres game from 7:05 pm to 7:30 pm.
That didn’t really do much since the game was delayed due to rain in the 2nd inning after Matt Kemp led off with a double.
The game resumed 90 minutes later with a new Padres pitcher. Cory Luebke struck out the side and left Kemp stranded at third base. Ted Lilly, who started the game for the Dodgers, continued pitching after the 90 minute delay.
In the 4th inning, Casey Blake & Matt Kemp were both walked. Nick Hundley attempted to throw out Matt Kemp on a double steal and over threw Orlando Hudson. This lead to the first run of the game.
Dodgers led 1-0.
Ted Lilly got into a little trouble in the 5th inning. He gave up a couple of hits and was pulled with runners on 2nd & 3rd. Mike MacDougal got Ryan Ludwick to groundout for the second out of the inning but it allowed Orlando Hudson to score.
Pades led 2-1.
In the top of the 6th inning, it began to rain heavily. The umpires could have called the game and even made it official since they played the minimum 5 innings.
Casey Blake & Andre Ethier both reached base on infield singles to second base. Matt Kemp came up with runners on 1st and 3rd. He singled over Jason Barlett’s head to tie up the game.
Tied Game 2-2 and the umpires called for another rain delay. This delay lasted about 66 minutes.
Kenley Jansen gave up one walk and allowed a stolen base to Venable. He retired the other 3 batters in the 6th inning, striking out two.
Dodgers came up empty in the 7th & 8th inning.
Padres had a runner reach 2nd base with 2 outs, but Kuo got Brad Hawpe to fly out to left field, which ended the 8th inning.
The rain began to rain really hard again at the start of the 9th inning. I don’t know why they didn’t stop the game.
Matt Kemp lead off the inning with a single. The game was called for another rain delay (1:14 am).
Game suspended at 1:45am. It will resume at 5:35pm.
Box Score: Dodgers 2 Padres 2
