>Lamar Odom Wins 6th Man of the Year

>

Congrats to Lamar Odom on winning the 6th Man of the Year award.

After being snubbed from the All-Star game, i’m sure this award will make Odom happy about the 2010-11 season. Another championship would help as well.
At the beginning of the season, Lamar started 35 games in place of Andrew Bynum, who was recovering from knee surgery. I didn’t really expect Lamar to be consistent all season long. He played outstanding and helped the Lakers clinch the #2 in the Western Conference.

Odom averaged 14.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and three assists per game. He also became the first Laker in the history of the franchise to win this award.

Kobe Bryant Named Player of the Month For March

NBA released:

The Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant was named the Kia  Western Conference Players of the Month for games played during March.

Bryant averaged 25.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists, leading the Lakers to a 12-1 record on the month, bringing them within 2 ½ games of San Antonio for first place in the Western Conference. Bryant achieved several milestones in March, moving ahead of Moses Malone for sixth on the NBA’s all-time scoring list during a 26-point performance in a win at Atlanta on March 8, and passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the Lakers’ all-time leader in games played in a win over New Orleans on March 27. Bryant also tallied a season-high 42 points, to go along with 12 rebounds and nine assists in a win over Phoenix on March 22.

First time this season for Kobe, and 13th time in his career.

>Blake Griffin Named Rookie of the Month

>

For the 5th straight month, Blake Griffin named Rookie of the Month.

Just released from Clippers.com

Los Angeles Clippers’ rookie forward Blake Griffin today was named the NBA’s Western Conference T-Mobile Rookie of the Month for games played through March. It is the fifth straight month Griffin has been honored as Rookie of the Month. The Washington Wizards’ John Wall won the award for the Eastern Conference.

Griffin led all rookies in scoring (20.5 ppg), rebounding (10.4 rpg) and tied for second in assists (4.3 apg). He is the only player in the league averaging at least 20 points, 12 rebounds and three assists. Griffin became the Clippers franchise all-time leading rookie scorer on March 30.

Here is a recap of the month for Griffin:

Blake Griffin, LA Clippers
March 7 @ Charlotte: Had 17 points, 15 rebounds and three assists in a 92-87 victory over the Bobcats.
March 19 vs. Cleveland: Tallied 30 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in a 100-92 win over the Cavaliers.
March 23 vs. Washington: Posted a triple-double with 33 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists in a 127-119 victory over the Wizards.
March 26 vs. Toronto: Tallied 22 points, 16 rebounds and five assists in a 94-90 win over the Raptors.

>Phil Jackson Named Coach of the Month

>

Lakers Coach Phil Jackson (12-1) named NBA Western Conference Coach of the Month for March.

The Lakers ended the month on an 8-game winning streak and had only one loss against the Miami Heat on March 10th.

The Lakers had wins over the San Antonio Spurs, Orlando Magic, and beat the Dallas Mavericks twice.
