>Blake Griffin Named Rookie of the Month

For the 5th straight month, Blake Griffin named Rookie of the Month.

Just released from

Los Angeles Clippers’ rookie forward Blake Griffin today was named the NBA’s Western Conference T-Mobile Rookie of the Month for games played through March. It is the fifth straight month Griffin has been honored as Rookie of the Month. The Washington Wizards’ John Wall won the award for the Eastern Conference.

Griffin led all rookies in scoring (20.5 ppg), rebounding (10.4 rpg) and tied for second in assists (4.3 apg). He is the only player in the league averaging at least 20 points, 12 rebounds and three assists. Griffin became the Clippers franchise all-time leading rookie scorer on March 30.

Here is a recap of the month for Griffin:

Blake Griffin, LA Clippers
March 7 @ Charlotte: Had 17 points, 15 rebounds and three assists in a 92-87 victory over the Bobcats.
March 19 vs. Cleveland: Tallied 30 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in a 100-92 win over the Cavaliers.
March 23 vs. Washington: Posted a triple-double with 33 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists in a 127-119 victory over the Wizards.
March 26 vs. Toronto: Tallied 22 points, 16 rebounds and five assists in a 94-90 win over the Raptors.

>Clippers Trade Baron Davis To Cleveland

Marc Spears reports:

The Los Angeles Clippers have reached an agreement in principle to send Baron Davis to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Mo Williams, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The Cavaliers will also get a 2011 first-round pick from the Clippers, who will receive forward Jamario Moon.

Davis, 31, signed a five-year, $65 million contract with the Clippers before the 2008-09 season. He struggled for much of his first two seasons, but had begun to play better. He’s averaging 12.8 points and seven assists this season.

I don’t understand why the Clippers would give up their 1st round pick for Williams and Moon. This was an obvious move just to save money for next season.
